Etrusco Antico – A Legacy of Passion & Tradition

For over four generations, our family has lovingly cultivated the Art of producing the finest Extra Virgin Olive Oil. What began as a modest endeavor for personal use has flourished into a revered tradition – cherished by friends and connoisseurs who recognize the unmistakable taste of excellence. Our harvest remains limited, as each olive is carefully handpicked with the utmost respect for the land. To meet growing demand, we now distribute high-quality Italian Extra Vergin Olive Oil from trusted producers we know personally, all from the picturesque region surrounding Lake Bolsena – the Heart of Etruria, nestled between northern Lazio, Tuscany, and Umbria.

Mediterranean Specialties

Beyond our exceptional premium Extra Vergin Olive Oil, we offer a curated selection of Mediterranean treasures: fresh truffles (seasonally available), decadent hazelnut cream composed of 60 to 75% pure hazelnuts, hand-crafted fresh pasta, and distinguished exquisite wines from the surrounding regions. Our wines, mainly sourced from the vineyards of Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio, are celebrated in gourmet circles for their depth and quality. In addition, we also offer super tasty German wines like Riesling from the river Mosel.

Our Roots

Our story is woven into the early 20th century, when my great-grandfather, Giuseppe Checquolo, embarked on an extraordinary journey. Driven by ambition and a deep sense of responsibility, he traveled to the United States three times, each time returning with more experience and resources to secure a brighter future for his family counting five children. A man of great intellect and resolve, "nonno Peppe" left his scenic hometown of Capodimonte with a clear goal – to uplift his family and instill pride in his heritage.

Upon his final return from America, he acquired ancient olive groves, their trees standing as silent witnesses to centuries of history. Through hard work, skill, and an unwavering PASSION, he cultivated the land, ensuring that each olive produced oil of exceptional quality and flavor. This dedication laid the cornerstone of a tradition that thrives to this day. My Italian grandmother, Teresa Checquolo, and grandfather, Igino Catarcia, nurtured this legacy, passing down their expertise to my parents, Francesca and Erich, who in turn entrusted it to me. When the time is right, I will carry this heritage forward to the fifth generation.

The bond between my Italian mother and my German father – a descendant of a long-standing merchant family in the wholesale toy trade – began during their university studies in 1972 in Munich, Bavaria. Although I was born and raised in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein, northern Germany, I spent nearly every holiday with my Italian grandparents at Lake Bolsena. These experiences forged a profound connection to both the rough and charming Baltic Sea and the rolling volcanic hills of Etruria – two worlds that equally feel like home.

In many ways, I grew up with olive oil as my lifeblood. It enriched every meal, from rustic toasted bread to vibrant salads and delicate seafood dishes. This “elixir” represents far more than a culinary delight – it is a symbol of heritage, family, and the timeless essence of home. Our Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a clear and honest reflection of our tradition. Just taste it and love it - like we do.
